It's that wonderful time of year. Christmas decorations! Christmas music 'til your ears bleed! Ho ho ho!
We're venturing out today to finally buy a ladder, after over 9 years of marriage and owning 2 homes. Up with the Christmas lights! We're going to stop by a nearby hobby store we've never been to and check out what they have to make a wreath and such.
We also have to figure out a tree. DH wants to go back to natural (and a BIG one, of course), which freaks me out a little, even though I know there are ways to make it safer. I'd like to stay with artificial, but get something a little bigger and less Charlie Brown than our cheapie 6' one. I'd also like a pre-lit, but he's not sold on that.
Who else is decorating today?

I'm going to put my Grim Repear from Halloween back in the front window with a Santa hat.
I put my new LED outdoor lights up last week. I got them up before the cold and snow for once. I'm really really happy with the look. Sam's sold out which is disappointing, I want more. Next year I am going to line the whole roof with them, not just the front edge.
It's only dry christmas trees that are dangerous. Christmas trees that are regularly watered are hard to set on fire. I've seen videos of them having a hard time lighting a watered tree with a blowtorch. Here's a video that demonstrates what can happen when you let a tree get dry.

we always try for natural trees. I like them sooooo much better. My husband is, at the moment, trying to put up the LED lights. He put it off and put it off and put it off today, now he's doing it in the dark. Sigh. Otherwise...I get kind of lazy when it comes to Christmas decorations. Because I have to clean and organize pretty well to have room to put them up. :P
MegaMatt put up the lights around our apartment window yesterday. We are trying to get a little tree, Charlie Brown style, but they didn't have any when he went. This will be my first time EVER having a real tree, so I'm pretty excited!

We have a fiberoptic tree - lights already on it! Or... in it, I guess. Twirly switching color lights that mesmerize the kiddo's and Mom, too. Love it!
Lights going up outside also... just the regular ole' mini-lights and some bigger bulbs probably from the 60s on the actual house. Red, green, blue, pink, purple, yellow... me love ALL the colors!

I have some big old 60's bulbs that I bought on ebay a few years ago. They're blue and they get hot as soon as you plug them in LOL. I can't decide whether to put them up or not. DH says they shouldn't be a fire hazard outside, but besides that I wonder how much juice they use. $$$$$$$$

One of my neighbors has amongst their Christmas decorations, a jack-o-lantern with a white beard and Santa hat stuck on it and a sign proclaiming, "I converted!"
