I think many of the cutting edge science will focus (at least if I were Satan, this is what I'd try to do) on making God either absurd or unnecessary. Making the lowly humans able to imitate things like appearing to someone in a room... creating life through stem-cell stuff and cloning and a myriad of reproductive possibilities... having our brains reprogrammed for any number of things, overcoming addiction being one brought up here recently...

Almost makes us our own gods, doesn't it? It will at least distract us long enough...
