I believe it was Elder Nelson that said once in a talk that Christ died, biologically, from a broken heart.  With his background, he was able to talk about the physiological evidence to show that He died not from wounds sustained during the crucifixtion, but from cardiomyopathy brought about due to the events of the Atonement.
