Hiccups

I came over to visit from that *other* place. Zealia said there was some cool poetry happening here and that sparked my interest. In fact, my first post was in the impromtu poetry thread. That first one was a doozy, though. I'm not always like that. Sometimes I am, though, and I hope that's okay here.

I never quite know what to type or say to introduce myself. I have 3 boys, 9, 5 & 20 months. My dear husband is an investigator. I haven't always behaved very well and was inactive for a decade. I'm very glad to be back at church the last 4 years. My life started making sense again then.

Welcome, Hiccups.  I notice from your profile that you live in Idaho.  What part?  I grew up in Eastern Idaho--Idaho Falls and then Rigby.  My wife and I lived in Boise for a few years before we moved to Texas.

We're in Meridian. We just moved here in February. Before that, we were in Loveland, CO. (Which very close to where Arbilad is if I remember right.) We are liking Idaho. I'm still struggling a bit to have it feel like home to me, but I'm slow in things like that. Eh, what does home feel like, anyway? confuse.gifsmile

We are always looking for good places to camp in the area if you have any suggestions. (We camp in a tent and I prefer not to dig my own toilets. disbelief.gifgiggle.gif)

Welcome Hiccups!

Uh yeah... that was... uh... well... really a doozy of a poem! confuse.gifwink.gif Mrs. Cat and I concur...

Michigan has some really nice places for camping... You could try some state parks here or the Sleeping Bear National Park over on Lake Michigan, and there is even a lot of private campgrounds around like this place.

Do you guys think that poem is too much for here? I can take it back down if it is.

Cat Herder, I've only been to Michigan once. My MIL lives in the UP, so we'll likely be visiting there again next summer. I was actually looking for camping here in Idaho. (We've found a place that works well for the kiddos, but we'd like to find a few more places to explore.)

Hiccups, I think your poem is fine. We've had a few threads here discussing that very topic.

Places to camp: Well there are a lot of places with different amenities around McCall and on the drive up. A few around Bogus Basin. If you like water activities, we found Lucky Peak too crowded and usually drove to C.J. Strike. It's south of Mountain Home about 20 miles. The campground is nice and in the fall, they used to have a regatta. It was fun to watch the sailboats. There's also a section of the Oregon Trail nearby that you can hike to.

Here's a list of Boise National Forest campgrounds.

One of my former missionary companions is a city planner in Meridian. If you ever go over to that office, say "Konnichi wa" to Steve Siddoway from Todd in Texas.

We frequently do our grocery shopping at the Sams Club in Loveland. A wonderful place. And we just went to the Independence Day picnic in Johnstown put on by my favorite tin foil hat radio station (there was even a guy there, who, as a joke, was wearing a tin foil hat).
Hiccups, when you were in Loveland, did you know Mike McNulty? He was in your stake, and a finer tin foil hat wearer I've never heard. He produced several videos about the tragedy at Waco.

Welcome Hiccups! Please, tell me about your avatar. Specifically, what is that um, object in front of the elk's nose?

laughing.gifBok, that would be another elk's rump. I was taking lovely nature shots of the elk at Rocky Mountain National Park. The elk had other things in mind. I had to crop the shot pretty closely for my avatar to show what's going on. I laughed and laughed when I first figured out what I had a shot of. I am easily amused that way.

Arbilad, I don't believe I ever knew
Mike McNulty in Loveland. The name does does sound just a teeny bit familiar, so it's possible that I might vaguely recognize his face if I saw it, though. biggrin  As to tin foil hat wearers, back in the day in New Mexico, when I worked at the Village Inn, I used to serve coffee to a gentleman with an exceptionally impressive item of head gear. There were feathers, a really big antena, colorful cloth and some foil if I'm remembering correctly.

FOR THE LOVE OF PETE! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE FONT SIZING?

I don't need to know what is in front of the elks (or is it a caribou?) nose. I've seen it in person.

Welcome.

Ok, apparently yelling helps. It's all better now. I don't really care what size the font is as long as the whole post is the same font size. I do wonder why it was doing that, though...

Operator error? Nope. Never. biggrin

I have trouble with the fonts too, on occasion. Activeboard is prone ot some odd glitches from time to time. We had an entire thread disappear last week. Poof. Into the ether. Arbilad claims innocence... so that means Bountiful is haunted.

Activeboard is prone to weirdness every now and then. I think it was Euphrasie who complained last week about a red marquee surrounding everything. I didn't see it and still don't know what happened. Someone, shortly after Bountiful was founded, kept losing every post. They'd compose their post, hit submit, and it would get lost. Every time. Mostly, though, it seems stable.

And different browsers under different OS have their own unique quirkinesses (or is that quirkini?) when viewing or posting to the forum.

Yippiekiyyea! (we even have some quirkini in cross-threaded post thinking here at Bountiful!) biggrin.gif

Welcome, hiccups!

In honor of the butt-sniffing elks club. Cheers!
