So what should I do when I am proven right about the final horcrux being Harry Potter's scar or some to-do about that? Eh? I'm really worried about being puffed up unto boasting... Anyone have any suggestions on how I should handle my imminent victory dance?
I also really don't want Arbi and Euphie to hurt themselves when they see my brilliance in all its glory. It will be so hard for them to apologize to me for all the grief they've given me, and how they've treated me... nay... Persecuted me... Heaped heaps of persecutions upon me, because I am a true believer in the only rational way to read the series!?
Nay! Wo be unto you! Wo!!!

The 21st can't come soon enough. Then I won't have to listen to this anymore.

Well, time will tell. Of course, there will be the natural urge on the part of those who are proven right (me and Euphie) to claim that, since Ray was wrong about this, he's wrong about all other issues. I'll try not to give in to the natural man and give in to that temptation. Rather, I will be magnanimous in victory. If I'm proven wrong (not at all likely, but I acknowledge the possibility), then I'll admit I was wrong. If Rowling comes up with a logical way to explain how Harry is a horcrux (I don't see how), then I will bow to Ray's superior logic. If she doesn't, then I will complain endlessly about book 7. But again, I don't consider this to be at all likely. The overwhelming weight of logic is against it. BTW, I am not alone in this belief. A recent poll on mugglenet.com had those believing that Dumbledore was right about the horcruxes (as Rowling said he was) beating out those who believe that Harry is a horcrux by 2 to 1.

BTW, I will remind everyone, Don't post the ending of book 7 until a week after it has been released. Not everyone is a fast reader. If you must talk about the ending, use the spoiler tag. I tend to be a very fast reader, but I don't want the book spoiled for me either. After all, it doesn't matter how fast a reader you are if you just skip to the end of the book to find out the ending. If Dante lived in our day, it is very possible that he would have written a special place in hell for those who spoil books or movies to people. I still remember seeing Star Wars Episode 1 with a friend who was eager to see it before someone spoiled it to him. Someone had spoiled Return of the Jedi to him. He told someone that he hadn't seen it yet when it came out, and their reaction was, "Wow, so you haven't seen yet that Leia is Luke's sister?"

it'd also be nice if the harry potter talk stayed in an obviously harry potter topic, so that those who are slower in getting/reading have a chance. My cousin ruined book 6 for me in that I knew about Dumbledore 2 days after it came out, and it wasn't my turn with the book yet.

Glum: Sorry for spoiling book 7 even before I've read it, but sadly there's no way I could be wrong on this--especially since Arbi is so convinced he's right--Harry Potter (or his scar) is the last Horcrux.

Which position sounds more intellectually honest? "I'm absolutely right and there's no way that I could be wrong", or "To me it appears that the evidence is overwhelmingly on my side, but it's always possible that I'm wrong."

D&C 98:23,24 "Now, I speak unto you concerning your familiesif men will smite you, or your families, once, and ye bear it patiently and revile not against them, neither seek revenge, ye shall be rewarded; 24 But if ye bear it not patiently, it shall be accounted unto you as being meted out as a just measure unto you."
If you revile against the persectution and seek venegeance, then (cause and effect reversed here) you deserve the persecution you received.
When that day comes, Ray, I hope your family does the right thing and checks you into a counseling facility until you can cope with the cognitive shift and accept what the rest of the world read as correct.
I'll be out of town the whole week after release (I had to call up the B&N in Flagstaff to reserve a copy for the midnight distribution), so I guess I'll be safe for posting when I get home. I'll try to be respectful of Ray's delicate state of mental health at that time.
But I'll warn you now...anything you post that I don't agree with will be followed up with "Right. And Harry's a horcrux." It will never, ever get old.
(I'm compiling my list of predictions currently, as I review and reread the last few books. I'll post it sometime.)
