Okay, I'm on a promotional tour for something I'm not involved in. Since Ray hasn't mentioned it yet I wanted to let interested persons know that The Lost Prince of Darkleaf, followup to Bean's Song, is now available. You can check out this book and the first one at Bean Leaf Press.
Travis Hanson and Aimee Duncan are the co-authors. Travis also does the illustrations. Ray plays a role in the production (the glossary?) and is working on some books in the same world (The Tales of the Broken Moon).
I read and enjoyed the first book with my son and we already have the second one on its way for us to read.
I will be ordering a copy of it soon, and will gladly share my candid thoughts on it after reading.
Here's hoping the story is as enjoyable as the first and to the continuing of improvement to writing style over the first book (not that it was bad in the first, but if you're used to reading top notch well-published authors, you can tell it isn't as polished).
Bean Leaf's books are good quality, so it is worth the money.

The story's great fun. Got some sad stuff in it, but it's very stirring. I can't wait to hear your reactions. Aimee and Trav have done great work. I did a second glossary for the project, but it's nothing compared to the work they put into it. Again, Trav puts up all the money for the project so it's very much a labor of love, and anything he earns goes right back into the project... (I've never seen a dime, which obviously makes this just a hobby for me, but one can dream that someday it'll be as big as Harry Potter, right!? :) ) It's a longer book, but I actually read this one faster. There's a lot more action in it...

I'm not slow; I'm special. (Don't take it personally, everyone finds me offensive. Yet somehow I manage to live with myself.)
Got home yesterday and my copy was waiting for me. My preview of the story was thumbing through the book and looking at the illustrations. If the illustrations are any indication, this book does have more action in it.
It is now in the reading queue after the current book we're reading and before the last Harry Potter book.
I look forward to ordering and reading it. Hopefully someday it will be big. Honestly, there are many more unique story ideas in that world than in many main stream fantasy books. Sometimes it seems that everyone wants to copy the worlds of the mainstream fantasy authors, and so you get a bunch of clones of Tolkien and David Eddings and the others.
