Casi scored some free tickets to an advance screening of Evan Almighty, which we took the family to this morning. I have to highly recommend this movie to everyone. Very funny, very family-friendly, and had a great message! I am not a Steve Carell fan, but he was very good in this role, and the whole movie was well-written and lots of fun. All of my kids enjoyed it--even the younger ones--it had animals and lots of gags, and was just a feel-good movie, the kind you feel good after you watch it.

How could it be with no Jim Carey? Still not interested in it, even if it is as tame as George Burns and John Denver's "Oh God!"... I'm not a prude, I just find it a little bit of making a mockery to make movies like these.
"This was definitely made with the family in mind. Evan Almighty is a funny and witty film revolving around political corruption, bird droppings, fatherly responsibility, conservation, family cohesion, and more bird droppings. Its a cross between Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Dr. Doolittle with an Old Testament motif and a dash of the Audubon Society thrown in. "

Shiz... We have decided to give it a glance when it comes out on DVD... We hardly ever go to a movie in theaters... but we have a Netflix account and are always glad for suggestions, that are family friendly... Thanks...
Right now the kids are plowing through "Smallville"... they are still in Season one... I find the series to be silly, at best... but they like superhero stuff... a LOT more than I do... Hubby and the boys went to Spidey3 and liked it... I like OLD movies (like made before 1963) the best...
Just a little warning, Smallville in later seasons becomes the equivalent of teen soft porn.
Okay that might be a little harsh, but it started out so wholesome and then they had to go inject the obligatory sexual stuff involving the main characters... the show really took a downward spiral.

PS> If you haven't watched it, and enjoy great Science Fiction stories, I recommend the complete series of Babylon 5. It's older, and the first season takes a little while to spin up, being a bit clunky, but the stories are amazingly provocative even today... (imo) and it ran for five years. There are a couple of disagreeable parts in it, but mostly it's a story about making good choices, standing up against evil, and the need all men have to be free, to think for themselves, and not to be messed with... It also has a strangely spiritual core to it.

Smallville = '00's version of Beverly Hills 90210 prime time twenty-something soap opera in a lame imitation sci-fi wrapping.
At least that was my impression when I got home one evening to find the wife watching it and after about 10 minutes of having an ear half open to it while in the kitchen, I asked why did she have that trash on the TV... It got changed pretty quick.

Thanks for the heads up... My kids know the drill and honestly I can trust them to give up a series when it gets over the top. They know what won't wash when mom is doing the washing...
Hubby and the boys have Babylon5 at least some of the series we have a friend that records stuff for them, so they actually have a bunch of sci-fi stuff that I don't really care for. I watch just enough each season to make sure that everyone is being safe... Because the sci-fi stuff is what hubby likes he makes me monitor it, because you allow yourself to get desensitized if it is something that you want to follow. Hubby does the same for me with my movies/shows.
Recently we watch some TV shows that we had recorded years ago and while watching realized that we hadn't remembered some scenes that didn't need to be included. We decided we didn't need that show in our house.
It is so irritating when good show decides that they can't keep the ratings up without making the audience into a voyer.
FYI... critique like article on the movie... not passing judgement myself on the movie, but in all honesty the subject matter holds no interest for me, as implied in my initial response.

That's a pretty good description. I'd skip seasons 4 and 5. 6 is okay again. I like it anyway.
