I see nothing funny about laughing while rolling computer geeks on the floor... unless of course, I'm one of the ones doing the rolling of the geeks!
Some of it is funny, but like so much of IT technology and the exponentially shortened life cycle of HW and SW, there is also a certain amount of buyers regret that always goes into every purchase decision as well as looking back at one's own personal technologic dumping ground...
Our family had one of the IBM Selectric II or Selectric III typewriters while I was growing up. My mom used to type PhD students dissertations to earn extra money. And, I learned how to type on one at school in Typing class. Ah yes, the memory of not only keyboards tip-tapping, but of the ball / ribbon thing smacking up against the paper! Good times, good times... (except when Mom would be typing away late into the night and wake us up).

That's nothing. I broke out one of my dad's old issues of Time magazine, and saw the ads for a particular brand of pencil. Favored by "ol' dead eye" himself, these pencils maintain a sharper point for longer, are easier to sharpen, and eliminate lead debris. All important things for ideamakers that need to spend time putting thoughts to paper, instead of doing pencil maintenance.
I love looking at stuff advertised in old Magazines and Newspapers. It's a riot. Black Belt Magazine actually prints a page in their mag on stuff that was in an old episode. Things that were so serious and important in the past seem comical now. I wonder if that's how we'll look back on most of mortality?
