Okay, this is too much...

Just got a spam message from Kay Jewelers telling people to come shop at their jewelry stores Father's Day presents...

It isn't enough to get inundated with the stuff for Valentines and Mother's Day and Christmas and Anniversarys and the whole "Every Kiss begins with Kay" crapola, now you have to buy Dad jewelry to show that you love him?!

If it weren't for my wedding ring, I'd be completely nekkid!

I hate bling-bling in all forms, and have never seen a need for it. Except for the one time when I was a kid and wanted to be a sorceror for Halloween. I ripped the firebird emblem off of a neighbor's car, glued it to can lid and punched a hole in it, to make a sorceror's talisman.

Still feel bad about vandalizing some random neighbor's car... At the time I don't think it even occurred to me that what i was doing was vanalism, but now I look back and just shake my head in shame.

I have a lot of those bone-headed memories... like the time we used to hide in the creek and lob rocks over a fence to the sound of breaking glass. We'd do it until we heard sirens... or shouts... and then we'd retreat into the creek, where no one could catch us...

Stupid hooligans...

Wedding ring only.  Sometimes my cheap Timex watch with the velcro band.  For about a year, I wore a yellow Live Strong wristband.  But when Lance left his wife and kids for Cheryl Crow, I melted his stupid bracelet with a lighter and watched the bits of molten silicone fall into the toilet.

I wear a Seiko watch only. I have not worn the wedding ring in around 14 + years. Can't stand the constriction.

Frankly, to me jewelry is a complete and utter waste. A friend, when he and his wife got married, they just got simple wedding bands and matching AR-15s. That is cool!

I have a cheap watch (it gets battered at work so I don't dare wear a nice one) and my wedding band. Though my ring finger knuckle has swollen and I can't wear my band right now. I need to get a larger one.

Does the brass star on the neck chain count as jewelry? It hides under my shirt...

No bling whatsoever. Can't stand to have things wrapped around my fingers or wrists.

Back to the topic: Hubby wears a nice watch (because it's accuracy is important in his work... taking a pulse rate you want the second hand accurate!) His wedding ring a simple band, mine is exactly like his... and he wears a steel laser cut CTR ring, that's it. He has one tie tack for Sunday, he's been using the same one for too many years to count.

Son1 still wears the RTH ring he wore in the mission field (YSA... so no wedding ring yet) and wears a pretty good watch, but it's not an expensive one, he just likes accuracy... Son2 wears a CTR ring like his dad's (they bought them together) and carries a pocket watch, a gift...

*Even daughter only wears a small CTR ring, no watch at all, and wears simple jewelry when she does add it... not that anyone was interested in what women wear...*

He probably came to his senses when she started razzing him for wanting to use more than one square of TP and for getting upset when she would wipe her mouth on her sleeve...  Or maybe it was cuz she wouldn't go to Kay Jewelers and buy him anything for Father's Day...  rolleyes

I generally wear only a cheapo Casio G shock watch and a cheapo wedding band. On sundays I'll wear a tie tac. I have a college ring and also a masonic ring which a rarely wear because they are uncomfortable. If this was the 70s I'd probably be looking like one of the Gibb brothers.!! LOL!

Curses, Cat...for starting a totally meaningless, random thread that makes me wander back into the realm of online conversations with people I have never met instead of paying my bills and folding my laundry...wink.gif

I have never thought much of jewelry on men. All I can think of is Mister T. But I noticed one day that a relatives husband wore a simple silver bracelet, probably one of those magnetic things, and I found it strangely attractive. I didn't find him attractive - get your mind out - but I was surprised that this piece of bling made me smile.

All I can figure is that he wore it because it was "healthy" (the magnetic thing) and not for bling-factor so for some reason it came accross differently.

I'm also surprised how often I get compliments on jewelry ( on the rare occasion I bother to don small cheap trinkets) People really notice these things? Who knew?
