Sometimes reading the headlines about Colorado makes me feel like I've moved back to California or something. This article talks about a yearbook showing student drug use.

A few years ago my kids got out my yearbooks... I was embarrassed by not only some of the pictures of my friends... but some of the messages they wrote. But that is now as a parent... I didn't even realize how raunchy that stuff was, until I was looking at it through my kids' eyes... Seeing those things reminded me that kids are stupid... they do stupid stuff and they ignore important stuff... It's a good thing repentance applies to all of us.
I think we definitely need to limit what is "allowed" into our own homes, and then I believe that when others are stupid (as these student and teacher were...) we should not try to draw blood... for penance. I believe that it is enough to ask for restitution (at least to the extent that the school can provide it) and let it go. Next time the stakes might be more carefully weighed, if the price is high enough, but we often fail to use our dollars to elicit change.
I am very concerned about the environment that my son has to go to school in right now... Unfortunately the "pictures" of stupid kids in his year books... are the least of my worries. Making a trip into the parking lot go pick him up sometimes and hearing what one kid yells out and calls another kid (as a joke) is positively disgusting. I am grateful we are almost done with HS... I don't have the stomach for it any more.
Y'all that are just starting and in the middle of it, have my prayers... I'm praying my kids have better options or at least can home school my grands.
Ray, aren't you glad that you left Colorado and took your children to quiet, conservative Washington?

Where was the yearbook faculty advisor? In our highschool they have to approve all the pictures and writing. If the adults are not there to guide the students, why even have teachers anymore. Just let anarchy run wild.
From the soundbites I've heard, it sounds like the faculty were aware of what was in the yearbooks, but they didn't think it was a problem until an uproar started. But that's my impression; I don't have facts to back it up.
