Just got back from our Preisthood Restoration Commemorative Campout.
My neighbor and I lost both rounds in horse shoes. Had a son that did well with the little ones.
I'll admit it. I had a little beef jerky in the vehicle on the way home.
I'm exhausted. Went to a spot near Clint's Well (Jones Crossing) and it SNOWED on us. It's May; It's ARIZONA and we got snowed on! My boys loved it.
Sweetheart and oldest arrived from UT about an hour after we got home.
Time to get the car washed. (got most of the washing done before she got home)

I cook all my beef till it's well done. And I mean well done. Any microbe in there is going to have its patooty cooked off.

Mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is not caused by a microbe. It's caused by a weird protein called a prion, and
The scientific consensus is that infectious BSE prion material is not destroyed through normal cooking procedures, meaning that contaminated beef foodstuffs prepared "well done" may remain infectious. Wikipedia article
I guess I should educate myself more on the BSE. Still, there have been a grand total of 3 vCJD sufferers in the US. Maybe I missed that part of the article, but it seems that no one is sure how likely it is that you'll get vCJD if you eat BSE infected meat. In general, it seems more likely that you'll die from lightning than it is that you'll die from eating a mad cow.

I am not sure, but I don't think you get vJCD from eating meat. The danger is if any brain tissue contaminates the meat.
And this particular case of BSE was in a dairy cow. I'm not going to stop eating beef any time soon. Although I do wish I had the resources with which to raise my own calves...
Eat it, raise it, love it. Beef it's what's for dinner. I love beef. You have a greater chance of winning the powerball lottery twice than actually getting Mad Cow. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightening multiple times than getting mad cow. The media likes to hype the situation but U.S. Ag products are the safest in the world. So eat more steak!!!
I do wish I had the resources with which to raise my own calves...Sorry you are feeling so poorly you can't raise yer legs up, or that you don't have a Lazy-Boy recliner. {ducks before she smacks him one upside the head... all the while protesting "Hey! Ray started it!"}
I like beef. I like nearly every meat. Of course, having tasted escargo about a year ago, I think I will pass in the future on it unless I have no choice. Although all meat to 4 1/2 year old mini-beserker warrior son is either chicken, buloney, or hot dogs (even fish or beef or turkey or shrimp or). It is pretty funny if we're having hamburgers or sausage and he calls out as soon as the prayer is done "Hey I want some of that chicken!", or if it is a meat he doesn't want at that particular moment, "Oooo! That chicken's disgustin!" (but he generally goes ahead and eats it anyway).
You know what I just heard over the weekend? Here in Michigan, you can get a huntin' permit for deer with yer car! So, in other words, if you hit a deer and kill it, you can call up and get a permit ex-post-facto like and go back and retrieve the deer you done hit. Hmmm... I may just need to get an old beater of a car and go do some huntin'

My dad and I are going together and getting a steer and another member of our branch will be taking care of it at his farm. We're getting it tomorrow and will probably slaughter it in December, should be about 300 pounds of beef each. Can't wait for those ribeyes!

I'm going to Val's house. I like a nice two inch thick T-Bone with mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers, some texas toast, ranch style beans, fried taters, and some sort of salad. Wash it all down with home made lemonade. That's Celestial Kingdom food.
Jason, I am a ribeye man, not big on KC strips. We could just split the T-bones.

Hey, I read that blog too... FWIW her Lasagna recipe is WONDERFUL, we make it pretty often... though we we just make it for us we use a lot less meat and fill in with veggies, cause I can't have that much meat, with my kidney issues... I've taken it in for meals to others and it always is raved about. We've used her cake and Pico recipes too...
Haven't tried the sandwich yet, but you reminded me I wanted to... I wonder... maybe that's what we'll have for Mother's Day Dinner... My guys like to cook stuff like that... They try to give Daughter the day off too cause she cooks about 75% of the time when she's living at home... Better get the list written up so someone can make sure we have everything... I think it needs red bell pepper though...
good it's not Fast Sunday... you folks are making me hungry.
I love a good Filet Mignon (medium rare)
We usually only do meat on Sunday... and sometimes not even then.
