Death Penalty for Porn Producers...

Is this wrong?

Well, that's debatable. The mosaic law did provide for the stoning of adulterers, didn't it? But Christ did away with that poriton of the mosaic law. Nowadays, if you go see the Bishop about adultery he's not going to take a rock out of his desk and throw it at you.
And I guess that a porn producer is not technically engaged in the act of adultery himself, at least, not necessarily.
But still, it's a vile and horrible thing to do.

I wouldn't call it spiritual suicide. Suicide is, after all, pretty much a one way trip. You aren't going to live again until the resurrection. Spiritual suicide would be an act that you couldn't recover from spiritually. A porn producer could repent. But I imagine it would be extremely hard. He'd have to have a whole attitude, career, and lifestyle change.

And they are responsible for helping to take a whole lot of children into a type of repentance gridlock with them...  The way they target youth is really CRIMINAL... at least it is in my book...  I believe that they CAN repent... I believe it will be a hard task... Like gathering those feathers all the gossips of the world, are busy gathering in their repentance process...  Not impossible... just VERY VERY hard!

Muslim governments seem to impose overly harsh punishments in general. I probably wouldn't classify porn production as a capital offense.

But the world would be a better place if governments around the world viewed pornographers closer to the way the Iranian government views them than how western governments view them. (Porn producers almost seem to be a privileged occupation here because their products are "speech" which must be protected at all costs.)

Maybe I'm out in left field here, but I see porn producers as far more damaging to society than adulterers. ??

The thing that disturbs me is the open-ended definition of porn. They could define it as something as innocuous as a picture of a woman with her burqa pulled up over her knees. Stuff like that makes the whole 'freedom of speech' issue come to mind. No we don't like true porn. But for true freedom to protest things we feel are wrong and giving other people the same freedom, we have to be very liberal (if you'll excuse the word) in our allowances. I mean, we teach correct principles and let the people govern themselves, right? If the people are righteous, they won't produce porn no matter what the law says. If people are evil, they will produce porn no matter what the law says (though admittedly less so with the fear of being caught under such harsh laws).

I hate porn. I really do. But I don't think such a harsh law using such an ambiguous definition of porn is the answer.

I agree with Dyany from the standpoint that this supports dictatorial powers for a group clearly intent on thought control and oppression of agency. I can see it turning into for fatwahs or just thought in general that a person is justified for killing a pornographer outside of Iran or any islamic nation.

But, at the same time, I wish our nation had more guts to stand up and actually shut down the filth industry. But, we merely fight the illicit drug industry, we embrace the alcohol and tobacco industries, so why should we even imagine that porn is going to get restricted back to what it should be?

Sounds a bit severe for the adult Porn folks. I would definitely support it for anyone making, distributing, purchasing, or watching child porn.

I think Dynany just cut to the chase of the issue.

I also think it's difficult to make Jase's case, as straightforward as it seems. There are all sorts of "porn"... and when you start to nitpick it, you still face the same problem.

Do such people deserve death?

Iran seems to think so. What about a movie like Schindler's List, which (though I've not seen it, I've heard that it's there) there's a scene which at least is suggestive of such evils. Should Steven Spielberg be put to death for that movie?
