You know, the problem here is not Toyota, but in Michigan a Democratic Governor who has done nothing to grow or protect the economy in the state and Democratic Senators who are busy pointing fingers everywhere but at themselves.
What is the big reason that Toyota and Honda will not locate manufacturing in Michigan? Labor unions. Plain and simple.

It seems to me the only thing you've learned is that Caesar is a "salad dressing dude."
Look where all the manufacturers of durable goods are going that still want to locate in the U.S. To the south east. If MI wants to fix the problem they should look at what the business climate is like down there.
I was reading an article in FastCompany either last month or the month before that was talking about Toyota. Toyota's abilities to cut costs and change rapidly are really key to their success. Toyota's culture encourage constant changes to their factories even though they are small changes. Everything from the paint process to the assembly lines themselves have undergone rapid changes. People actually work to try and eliminate processes and jobs even if it is their own because the behavior is rewarded. If they eliminate their own job or if the overall change eliminates it then they are moved to somewhere else in the plant. The big 3 aren't nimble enough to make those sort of rapid changes even if the union were willing. I love GMC but this isn't the fault of the value of the Yen. The politicians who are trying to blame the Yen need to read the article. Here it is online if you are intersted. http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/111/open_no-satisfaction.html
Only when U.S. companies are able to do the same will they be able to compete. Just my opinion.
