I'll be speaking in Church this coming Sunday.

I was asked to be the concluding speaker this coming Sunday on the topic of Testimony.

I'm in a gathering mode right now for composing my thoughts and approach to the topic.

Anyone have anything they would like to share with me that would be insightful, inspiring, or otherwise wisdom that could contribute to the building up of your fellow Saints in my neck of the woods?

Posting to Bountiful will increase your testimony
Just kidding.
You need to renew your testimony constantly. It's like shaving. You may have done it really well yesterday, but that doesn't mean that you don't need to do it today.

I think sometimes your testimony is strengthened when you realize you have one.

For example, I never had the whole real conversion story.  I kept praying until I realized I already knew.  I'd known all along.  It helped my testimony to know that I already had one.

This makes it important to do things like keeping a journal (you can read back to times when you may have been stronger or just times when you felt strongly), bearing testimony (even if you don't know what to say...sometimes the words just come, and saying it makes it true...), praying (and directed to that time when you had 'peace spoken to your mind concerning the matter'), etc.

*strokes beard thoughtfully*

I think I'll apostatize today...

I have a beard too! Hopefully this doesn't mean I have to apostatise now.

I used to shave once a month when I'd do shifts in the temple.

A testimony is sometimes born in the bearing of it.

A testimony is born through doing the simple things.

Prayer, feeding our spirits with His Holy word, both ancient, modern and recent scripture.

Fasting can bring spiritual blessings into our lives.

There is no substitute for righteous living.  If any man will do His will, he will know.

Want a testimony?
Testimony of the law of tithing -- give it.
Testimony of the law of chastity -- be it.
Testimony of the WoW --   keep it.
Testimony of the gospel -- live it.

You might include, and perhaps begin with, thanks for the testimony you have, and for that of your wife and family members.  It might help if you could discuss times and/or circumstances in which your testimony helped you avoid spiritual danger, and discussing those experiences in the 3rd person is not inappropriate.

These are great nuggets, everyone, keep 'em coming!  Thank you each and every one of you!  I'll try to work the thoughts in where appropriate as best I can.  If anyone wants to read the transcript of my talk, I'll post it to my blog on Sunday.

Check the Personal Announcements and Classifieds discussion area for a thread entitled The Blunt Edge World.  I have link(s) listed there.

Awesome talk CH!

I haven't even started on my talk for stake conference this Sunday... my wife said I should use yours and adapt it to me.

I'll see what the Spirit directs.  I took Friday off so I should have time after an early morning temple session.

Thanks for posting it.  You did great.

If the Spirit so directs, you are more than welcome to use whatever part or parts will be beneficial for your Stake!

Apparently, it touched a lot of people in the ward.  My wife said that there was not a person in the congregation who was not paying attention to the talk.  Several folks gave me hugs afterwards.  One of the most intellectual of people in the ward came up afterwards and said "That was the best talk we've had in this ward in a long time!".  When I was younger, that sort of stuff would have really gone to my head, but as an adult with hopefully a little maturity under the belt (besides just my belly ), it makes me uncomfortable to have people "congratulate" me, because I know that I was nothing but a tool in His hand for any good that resulted in my talking.  The Spirit is the one who should get the credit, so I try to remind people of that.
