I don't know if it is my anti virus software or what, but I cannot open the option to look in the library nor find a pic on my laptopto allow me to get an avatar.

Any suggestions?

Try again today. We were having some weird problems yesterday.
Also, if I remember correctly (which I may not be), the avatar choosing thing comes up in a pop-up window. If you have a pop up blocker enabled, that may keep you from being able to set an avatar. One way to check is to click on the "more emoticons" link below the emoticons box. That comes up in a pop up too. If it doesn't appear, then it's likely that you're having a problem with pop-ups.

I vote for Mahonri picking as his avatar The Last Airbender avatar guy... (what can I say, I have a couple kids who watch the show...)  For he was lost and is now found, just like that guy...

Either that, or a big old Olmec statue head in honor of the Jaredites...

Or, even though it may be on the verge of sacrilege, The Great One Who is Yellow and Square Whose Name is Bob and is a Sponge... (yes, we watched some last night as part of FHE...)

Still doesn't work and it's not my popup blocker. .   More emoticons work.. but the avitar picker doesn't.

I uploaded my avatar directly. I scaled an image of Team Rocket from Poke'mon razzing everyone... to the required pixel dimensions and then just had the board pick it. Can you do that?

Mahonri, if you can try it from another computer, that would be very instructive.

Also, try this link to see if it will allow you to choose an avatar that way.
Otherwise, perhaps try turning off your popup blocker. I don't think that's the problem, since I am using Firefox's popup blocker without problem.
That's another idea; you could download firefox and try that.

It should work now, Mahonri. I went into your user profile and deselected the current avatar. I know that there was no current avatar, but it wouldn't let me select one until I had removed the non-existent current one. I then selected an Elvis avatar for you to verify that it could be done. I then deselected that one, so you should be fine to go in and select your own.
If you still have problems, let me know and I'll select one for you.
