He gives a lot of credit to the Japanese... then again...  MJ's friends in Japan also have rather... ahem... open... ideas about juvenile sexuality... and think that Americans are prudish in this regard...

There is a very strong subculture of sexual deviancy in Japan. I've heard of a form of anime (japanese animations) called Hentai which is as sick and debased as you can imagine a cartoon being.
